Details of incident

An employee, named Trumpy Bea, working in our R&D Department tried stealing information on his USB while working overtime last night. Luckily it was detected by one of our security guards, Mr. Anderson, when the employee linked his private USB into our server. Mr. Bear will appear in Civil Court this Friday to face charges.

Assessment

Mr. Bear was working alone and on the pretext of finishing all his duties for the week. His supervisor permitted it only because he was an experienced employee. However, Mr. Bear linked his USB into our server to download confidential files after the other employees left. He hasn’t yet expressed his motivation.

Action taken

I have asked all team leaders who work in the R&D Department to not permit employees to work overtime alone. I have also analysed the USB and found out why it could be linked to our server without detection. The security system of our server will be upgraded by the first week of December.
