Report on the Manager Position in Vietnam

Introduction:

This report aims to compare the difference of promoting or identifying an employee internally to that of hiring a local manager.

Internal manager:

By identifying an internal manager, we would not have to spend a lot of time and effort on recruiting one. We could instead choose a hard working employing from our own pool of employees, in turn improving the morale of the workforce ,and avoid having to spend too much time on training and acclimatizing the new manager with product knowledge and company culture. However, the salary will be set higher than that of the one hired locally, and the internal manager will have to spend time on adapting to the environment in Vietnam.

Local manager:

By hiring a local manager, we would have to spend time selecting and recruiting the right candidate. However, being Vietnamese we would not have to incur training costs on learning the language. We would instead have to spend time familiarizing him with the products of our company and our company culture.

Recommendation:

Based on the above comparison, it is suggested that we hire a local manager for our Vietnam branch mainly because it would save us time, money and effort.
