I quit my job.
BHM=>CHA
Today I did something wild and crazy….I quit my job.
I surprised many of my friends, family, and co-workers with the news that I am leaving Birmingham and moving to the metropolis of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Chattanooga is a city that I strangely have a lot of connections to.
My mom grew up there.
My parents met there.
I was born there.
I still have some family there.
Some of my favorite people in the world live there.
So, this isn’t just moving to a new city. This is sort of like moving home.
Still, I keep getting asked why I am moving. In Birmingham, I have a great job, a great girlfriend, my immediate family, and so much more.
What really sealed the deal for me to move to Chattanooga was when I went to hear Gary Vaynerchuk speak last week. I met people that are starting awesome companies. The city has a start-up culture that is infectious and enthusiastic. It reminded me of the Entrepreurship program at Belmont, where I went to college.
I have been longing to be a part of a community like that again, for some time. At my core, I believe I am a start-up guy. Once a company is past early growth stage, I am not the right person for the job.
I thrive off of the risk, the reward, the hustle.
Here I go to Chattanooga.
To start a new life. To hustle and work my butt off to make my dream come true. To start a company that you’re going to read about one day and say “I want to be like that guy.”
Watch out, world. I’m coming for you.
