1 priceless thing America has lost in trade war on Canada
The keys to a great meme are in both the delivery and the versatility.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is the king of memes right now.
A little over a month ago, Trudeau gave a press conference in response to the newly launched trade war against his country by the United States.
In it, he explained Canada’s position with 11 simple words:
“We don’t want to be here … we didn’t ask for this.”
Trudeau paused for a second and then gave a perfect little shrug.
Suddenly, my Instagram reels were flooded with images of a prime minister who, a few short months ago, most Canadians wished would just go away.
- Showing up to work on Monday like “We didn’t ask for this … we don’t want to be here.”
- When you’re at your sibling’s soccer game: “We didn’t ask for this … we don’t want to be here.”
- TFW you’re an introvert at a party: “We didn’t ask for this … we don’t want to be here.”
The hits keep on coming for Trudeau.
Last week, a reporter brought up Trump’s on-again, off-again, on-again, off-again tariff threats that Canada’s foreign minister called a “psychodrama”. He was then asked what he would call it.
His response, after a beat: “Thursday.”
The room erupted in laughter.
