Solutions Are The Thing

Change What You Look For To Something Positive & Solution Orientated

How much of your daily online consumption is made up of negative stories or comments? How many of those problematic items are only negative because they only present problems, and never offer solutions?

I like lynda.com and I like Linkedin — they both give me something I can take and apply and get results. How much better would the articles you read be if they offered you the ability to do something, rather than making you feel powerless?

Some days, after reading and reading, and clicking and clicking, I just want to curl up in a corner and do something that involves no engagement at all, and I know I am not alone in this.

What do you do to bring in leads? How do you handle problem people at work? These are things people want solved. They don’t want more issues they have to deal with, because that just adds to the overwhelm.

So, look for articles that add some forward movement to your life, and reject anything that drags you down. Sure, it’s good to know what is going on in the world, but you can look for articles about people who are doing something about the problem.

See a world issue that concerns you, and when you want to find out about it — try tailoring your search to find what people are doing to handle the issue. When you start to see that it isn’t all helpless you will start to feel better about the world, and you will start to feel more able to help. It’s a simple thing, but it can save you getting dragged down into the muck and forced into the frame of mind where you are happy to stay there.

And sometimes? It’s better to turn everything off and step away from it all for a while.
