Blog worth prize?

Best written piece… begin with pen, blank white paper.

Bunch’o’ wonderful people — ‘Betti, Wilks, Peacock… bubbly, welcoming, professional. Birthdays, weddings… passings. Brothers, wives, parents… baby Wilson produced — busting with pride. Brimful with passion.

Brainstorms with play, bring wacky possibilities. Brainwaves pursued, boundaries we push. Best work presented. Brave words professed. Blurb, waffle, patter… believable when pitched. Boys, win please.

Brands with problems, big workshops planned. Bulky wordy presentations built with Powerpoint. Brilliantly worded propositions by Weedon presented. Beautiful work produced. Brochure-wielding printers bearing wet proofs, boxes, wooden palettes.

Battling weekly pressures — Beasley waxing positive, bleaker Webb predictions — both worthy partners business wisdom possess. Balance will prevail. Banking, wages, POs, budgets… Wendy polices. Because we’re profitable bonuses we pay.

Boathouse. Watery panorama. Boardroom wall phrases, beanbags wrapped patriotically, bookshelf wallpaper. Bare walls ‘planted’ bedecked with paraphernalia.

Boiled water poured, beans well percolated. Black? White perhaps?

Binding working practices, beliefs without prejudice. Bright workers promoted banishing wasted potential. BlackBerry wifi problems — barred without password.

Buzzing workplace banter without profanity — Baz! — willpower. Bigger, wilder parties British weather permitting. Blocked winter paths. Breakfast: warming porridge, bananas, willingly provided. Bread with peanut butter widely ‘plied. Bowls washed promptly.

Baffling word play, but well put.

Blog writ.

It’s not more rope you need.

Far from being a cause of, or excuse for, lazy, uninspiring work I believe the restrictions and limits of a brief are often the very things that can drive creativity. They provide a focus and channel for our efforts requiring great clarity and unity of purpose. Take for example, the piece above. This was created with two seemingly huge constraints to creativity. Firstly, only words beginning with the letters ‘b’,’w’ and ‘p’ were available for use. Secondly, even those words had then to appear only ever in that sequence. A tall order perhaps, but one that resulted in a far more engaging, memorable and satisfying bit of work than an open ended “brief would’ve produced”.
