45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:

46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

What does this mean?

Why is it so short?

So, God’s kingdom is like a man who buys and sells goods, and when he finds an amazing deal, an amazingly great and beautiful item — a pearl in this case — he sold EVERYTHING he had to buy it.

What is Jesus trying to teach?

I think the main message here is that there is something that is worth more than everything we could possibly own.

Heaven is like the person willing to give everything away to buy his way in?

Heaven is amazing? Is that the message? Better than anything we know here? What makes it so great?

From this parable, all we know is that it’s worth whatever the cost to obtain the pearl of great price that is the kingdom of heaven.

Must be something great, something FANTASTIC.
