How do you start you day?

When your fingers grab the string and you cock your arm back with the arrow settling on the string. Your surroundings disappear. Your eyes are looking through the arrow to its target, because if the arrow doesn’t leave in the right direction it never hits its target.

The beginning is crucial. The start is critical.

So in the morning, I say a prayer for wisdom, grace, and focus to create art well.

Wisdom
Prayer for wisdom to know what must be done today. Wisdom to understand that not everything is important and urgent.

Grace
Grace to accomplish what I set out to finish. Grace to do those things really, really well.

Focus
Focus to accomplish what I set out to finish efficiently and productively. Focus to avoid distractions that might come in the way of me finishing what I’m called to do today. Focus to create great art.

Art
What I’ve been hired to create. What I’ve been created to create. The reason I need wisdom, grace and focus. I have the opportunity to show up, be emotionally invested, and create something that matters. I have been afforded the significance to make a real & unique difference where I’m at.
