AR shouldn’t be considered in isolation

A new AR game has hit the app store called Dogemon Go. The app takes inspiration from the hugely successful Pokemon Go, which is still one of the most popular mobile AR experiences. However this new app allows players to earn Dogecoin, the cryptocurrency which earlier this year saw some big highs and lows.

Most AR projects shouldn’t integrate crypto into their experience and it’s important not to get caught up in buzz words and trends. However when creating and pitching PR focused and larger projects being aware of what is happening in the tech sphere is really important as sometimes it can lead to the next big thing.

📡 Future facing trends

AR is poised to revolutionise the retail market

A new report from Snap assessed the post-covid retail industry and what customers want as they start going to stores again. One key takeaway was that customers want the convenience and safety of online shopping bought into the in store experience. This could be allowing people to try on clothes / demo products in AR so they wouldn’t need to handle items that have been touched by other people. This type of try on would also allow them to quickly demo different variations of the same item quickly, giving them the convenience of online shopping.

30% of millennials and Gen-Zs interviewed said they would go out of their way to visit a store that had at least one advanced technological feature, this could be a smart mirror or an instore AR experience. Brick and mortar stores should now be considering how they can use these new technologies to improve the customer experience to drive higher footfall post covid.
