Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning are common buzz words that are commonly used interchangeably to some degree. Here I will explain how they differ and the relationship between these concepts. Let’s start with the broadest of the terms, artificial intelligence.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a broad term for anything resembling human intellect. This can be as complex as creating award winning art or as simple as a chatbot on a website that guides the user by keywords. The point about AI is that it must appear like an autonomous actor in some way. AI is the broadest category in the terms of this article as show by the relationship diagram below.
