CardioCare@Home experiences: Jürgen’s story
One day, while at work, Jürgen began to feel uneasy. Jürgen decided to visit his doctor, but unfortunately, the initial examination yielded no clear diagnosis or explanation for his discomfort. A few weeks passed and one day, while driving in his car, he was overcome by a more severe episode, causing him to realize that his condition might be more serious than he had initially thought. Recognizing the need for further evaluation, Jürgen promptly returned to the doctor, who referred him to a cardiologist.
At the cardiologist, Jürgen underwent tests to uncover the root cause of his symptoms. It was during this process that he was recommended to undergo Holter monitoring for 24 hours. This test involved wearing a heavy portable device with many wires that continuously monitored his heart rhythm throughout the day.
To Jürgen’s surprise, the test revealed an arrhythmia, and the medical team discussed potential treatment options. They contemplated the idea of placing a pacemaker, but before making a final decision, they were keen to explore alternative approaches. Ultimately, the medical team decided to proceed with an ablation procedure known as Pulmonary Vein Isolation (PVI). This intricate procedure involved selectively burning away the heart tissue responsible for triggering the arrhythmias.
