A Day in the Life of an SME CEO

7AM — Woke up

8AM — Drove to work

8:30AM — Doodled the new “team seating arrangement” while having breakfast ordered from Grab.

9:00AM — Consulted the plan with advisors over chat while conference calling with a Japanese client.

10:00AM — Reviewed internal BI dashboard with analyst, manager, and marketer to transform our entire company to be a “Data-driven” organization.

11.15AM — Reviewed the new “team seating arrangement” with Manager. Discussed internal re-org needed. In between, bought really nice Japanese lunch for the 2 lieutenants that decided to stay late with me to work out some major process issues we have been having.

12.15PM — Some breather. Whew~

1.00PM — Encourage HRM to “headhunt” developers on JobsDB by using ^4!@#14#$!%!#$. (sorry, trade secret. 5555).

1.30PM — Top senior developer called to ask about a few key important things. So glad I got a chance to talk to him. The important topics were:

• 1) He proposed using AI and Chatbot to automate Q&A company benefits.
• 2) He raised concerns about our product’s implementation.
• 3) He questions if in his role, he is maximizing his contribution to the company. I took the time to really listen to his point of view and offered my point of view why I believe as a company, we have maximized his position’s contribution to company.
• 4) He wants to learn more how to identify and assess the “right candidate.” I happily share how I, on behalf of CODIUM, identify and assess candidates.
• 5) CODIUM is considering building a second branch in Khon Kaen. I asked for his opinion on Khon Kaen developers’ quality.

2:20PM — I’m running late to another legal meeting. PDPA. Gave the team a framework on how to proceed. Funny how some consultants can make easy dough selling glorified paperwork. Luckily our team is smart and self-reliant. My Manager is gonna kick some ass.

3:00PM — Impromptu meeting with our lead marketer. She reviewed our brand spanking new website with me; it will be launched soon. It’s almost always refreshing talking to the lead marketer. Bought her a small gift as a token of appreciation.

3:50PM — Attempted to review with HRD a new protocol on how to promote senior developers and WFH policies, but not enough time. So she proposed to postpone the meeting to tomorrow.

4:05PM — Running late to a meeting with a partner. The proposed new deal is roughly 5M+. Gave him a framework on how to structure this deal. He will get back to me by tomorrow.

4:15PM — Finally some time for myself. Let’s “inbox zero” my email. Delegated, followed up, and crossed off a bunch of stuff.

5:15PM — Had to handle some internal personnel issues.

7.00PM — Followed up on sales and partnership pending issues. Made note of things to be followed up.

7:35PM — Dinner with family and relatives. Got tipsy with imported wine. Haven’t had alcohol in such a long time. เป๋เลย

8:30PM — Left the place to drop off my cousins at their places.

10:15PM — Arrived home, rested, and showered.

11.20PM — Typing up this very post you are reading. A cool way to market our company, but at the same time, what the hell, I enjoy writing anyway. 555

Midnight — Going to sleep.

Highlight of the day? 6 new leads today. Our highest ever yet. And we are soon to close on 2 big deals with 2 nationally recognized companies. And tomorrow, we will find out more about our company’s entry into FinTech sector. #Miloan
