The C2 Group’s 2019 Highlights

We had much to be thankful for during an eventful and exciting 2019. But before we turn the calendar over to 2020, let’s look back at some of the highlights that made the year great.

In October, C2 was named Episerver CMS Partner of the Year for the first time. C2 is a Gold-level partner of the best-in-class CMS, commerce, and personalization platform and was recognized during Episerver’s annual customer and partner conference, Ascend, in Miami. In receiving the award, C2 was noted for its deep platform experience and ability to deliver for mutual customers to take their content experiences to the next level.

For the third year in a row, C2 was recognized as one of West Michigan’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For. C2 paced ahead of the pack in West Michigan as it relates to compensation, benefits, and employee solutions; employee enrichment, engagement, and retention; and work-life balance. We continue to engage the team for feedback and deliver employee-focused solutions that promote balance and betterment of our team.

While the new launched in 2018, it made its rounds on the awards circuit throughout 2019. The large community college district serving students in San Antonio was recognized with a Gold Paragon Award from the National Council of Marketing and Public Relations for outstanding achievement in design and communication. Then, during Episerver Ascend, the website took home top honors for Best UI/Navigation at The Episerver Web and Partner Awards ceremony.

The C2 website was due for an update, and received one with the launch of the new in April. The redesign reflects more current messaging and branding while enabling marketers and content creators to have more control over site content and updates with less reliance on internal development resources.

Each year, C2 picks a local non-profit or charitable group for an annual service partnership. For 2019, C2 provided hands-on volunteering and pro bono digital consulting for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Grand Rapids. The C2 team spent time during the year volunteering at local clubs during after-school hours, serving Thanksgiving dinner to club members and their families, and participating in a secret Santa shopping spree for local families on hard times during the holidays.

On a Friday in August, the team shut down the office to enjoy a summer afternoon and a C2-inspired photo scavenger hunt across Grand Rapids. Teams competed on creativity to complete objectives before a team happy hour. The scavenger hunt was one of many team and office events during the year, including family outings to a West Michigan Whitecaps game and a fall excursion for hay rides, pumpkin-picking, and cider and donuts at Schwallier’s Country Basket.

C2’s annual food competition kicked off in July, where team members dedicated five consecutive Tuesday lunches to judging some of Grand Rapids’ most sought-after tacos. While the competition was close, San Jose won over our collective taste buds for its taco shells, spicy jalapeño side, and outdoor seating.

C2 began 2019 by wrapping up its first engagement developing a virtual assistant skill for a longtime client. The Moody Radio Alexa skill allows loyal listeners of the nation’s largest network of Christian radio stations to stream their favorite programs and podcasts with a simple voice command.

The C2 team visited 16 states as well as Washington D.C. in 2019 to kick off new engagements, facilitate trainings, and attend conferences and partner events. Outside of our base in Grand Rapids, Mich., the team traveled throughout the Midwest (Illinois, Ohio, Iowa, Minnesota, Indiana, Wisconsin), East Coast (Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Virginia), and made a couple visits out west (Texas, Arizona).

Our team is growing! This has included expanding teams and creating new positions in support of a “no surprises” approach to client service and delivery. New roles include the addition of delivery and quality assurance leads, dedicated ongoing support personnel, and roles for new and existing business development.
