The Rise of the Developer

In the New Style of IT or the new way of doing business, it’s crystal clear that 6 forces are orchestrating a tectonic shift: Analytics (Big Data), Cloud,Mobility, Security, Connectivity (Internet of Things) & Social. The industry shaping tech companies of the world are driving this transformation employing different themes.

In this shift, the modernization of applications plays a pivotal role because for these apps to be delivered through agile cloud platforms & services to the mobile users, they need to shift from traditional, monolithic or classical architectures and take advantage of distributed & resilient cloud native architectures.

Earlier the applications were mostly about functionality and performance but in the new world, the apps focus on user experience where Developers are given center stage to drive the transformation. IT Operations typically provision and manage server, storage, network, operating systems and virtual machines for the developers and they need to take on from there, managing Databases, Middleware and Development Tools which doesn’t allow sufficient space or time to enhance the application services. Now with cloud automation and service delivery tools (IaaS & PaaS), IT Ops can provision and manage databases, middleware and dev tools, giving Developers the power and flexibility to build cloud-ready apps faster.

Truly the role and contribution of software developers, programmers, coders and engineers are paramount to the new style of IT.
