On Saturday, June 23, almost three weeks after the closely watched contested primary, the winning Democratic congressional candidate for CA-10, Josh Harder, held a rally and a canvassing event in Modesto. Groups of volunteers from Santa Cruz, San Francisco, and East Bay cities came together with Swing Left and California Democrats in a kumbaya moment to kick off the season leading up to the November 6 general election.

A group of four lifelong friends stood out among the crowd. With gleaming Ray-Bans and bright smiles, they appeared to be unfazed by the 100-degree heat. Dirya and Shivrat Chhabra, Parat Singh, and Neil Raina come from Indian-born families now scattered across the U.S. The four friends all ended up in the Bay Area and have been making trips to CA-10 to knock on doors together for over a year now.

With four months left until the general election and the stakes for flipping the House of Representatives getting higher every day, the army of volunteers going door-to-door in the district needs to grow exponentially. All recent research shows that personal canvassing is the most cost-effective contact method to influence voters. And the most effective way to recruit volunteers is to ask everyone you know to join you. So bring your friends and family, sign up to help elect Josh Harder to Congress, and take control of the House.
