“I am an introvert by nature and sometimes dread going out to knock on doors and talk to strangers. But I keep returning because I want to win,” says Debbie Raucher of Oakland, California. Debbie is not new to political organizing, having worked for two years on a local Oakland campaign. After the November 2016 election she felt compelled to jump back into action and found Swing Left. Bringing her activist experience to the group, Debbie took on a leadership role in communications and organizing regular canvassing trips to CA-10. Debbie enjoys the feeling of making a difference, however small the victories may be. She tells the story of visiting an elderly, disabled man who struggled to communicate. Debbie explained to him that he does not need to get to the polling place to vote. The man was thrilled and grateful for the help to register for the Vote by Mail ballot. Debbie leads a group to CA-10 monthly on a Saturday. Join her to help turn out voters for the primary election on June 5.
