Before I came to ITI, I had gone to Egypt in 6 months for work. Except for Egyptians, This company’s included Indian, Pakistani, Bengali, and Taiwanese. I am sure it is important for leaders to provide an inclusive work environment because we live in the global community.

Personally, I think they can do some activities:

Firstly, eat lunch. No matter in the cafeteria or in the office, you can introduce your hometown food with your co-workers, but you do not have to eat your hometown food every single day. Through this chance, you can share your culture with your co-workers as well. This is the main purpose to eat lunch -create a connection with your co-workers.

Secondly, team building. The benefits of team-building help each co-worker to know each other. Obviously, this method is always used by leaders. After doing team-building, it is easier to understand each other and communicate with each other.

Finally, Conduct informal meetings. Sometimes social faux pas inadvertently influences you and your colleagues because all of you and your colleagues come from different background even different countries. In my opinion, we can arrange an informal meeting, so we can clear the air.

To sum up, I think almost all of the people will agree it is important for leaders to provide an inclusive work environment, but sometimes it is hard to face this situation in the real world. Fortunately, more and more people are considering this topic. So, we will get better and better.
