My parents always tell me I should study hard because they think this is the only way to succeed. However, they don’t tell me the importance of a goal, and our education system doesn’t tell us, either. Until I met two people who were my high school classmates, I realized studying hard is not the only way to be successful.

These two people are quite successful in their field now although they dropped out of college. One of them didn’t put much effort on her studies in high school; instead, she just played with her phone and slept in class. However, she still made it because she knew which career path she wanted to follow.

As a result, setting your goal is way more important than study hard without any clear direction. If you have a goal, you will know what you are supposed to do. It will save you a great deal of time, and you won’t give up easily when feeling frustrated because you know what you want to achieve.
