There are many impacts of why it is important to learn about other cultures. And I think it depends on what angle we look at it.

As for tourists, it’s necessary to do some researches of that country’s history and give learning the cultures about the location of where you are going to visit beforehand. It helps you connect with local people and understands the backgrounds of what’s happening in their country now. The point of this isn’t to gain the whole bunch of knowledge, it’s all about learning a place in order to connect with people and broaden your horizons.

In the case of international business men, different cultures directly affect how they communicate with other country’s people. To have an effective communication in a global conference, learning their cultures previously and understanding it takes some time to recognize the culture iceberg which is difficult to see on the surface. Also, organizational hierarchy, rules and punctuality in business play the essential rules between cultures which influence the attitude and expectations.

To sum up, it is important to learn about different cultures to deal with culture shock. Even though, it is not easy to understand all the beliefs, value or norms of others. However, it shows the respect of their life and more open-minded toward people from different culture backgrounds.
