How to submit your story

We’d (probably) love to include your article in our publication! Email our acting editor at indyquail@gmail.com to find out.

Some things to keep in mind.

What we’re interested in:

• Identity: What does it mean to you to be a Californian?
• Resistance: California’s struggles against the current presidential administration
• Autonomy: What if California had more control over particular issues? How would we get that autonomy?
• Independence: Could California become an independent country? What would that look like?

Audience: We’re primarily about Californians talking to Californians. Not that you can’t also explain to the rest of the United States how misguided they are, but don’t expect them to read it.

No goes: We won’t accept anything that advocates violence or foreign intervention in California’s political system.

Editors are here to help: If we add more paragraph breaks, break up long sentences, fix spelling errors, etc., it’s nothing personal; we just want to make your article great!

How do I post on Medium? Sign up for a Medium account, (you can use your Google or Facebook login), write a Medium story, and then email its URL to our acting editor at indyquail@gmail.com to request we add your story to California Rising.

Article already posted elsewhere? Just create a “stub” article on Medium that includes the first few paragraphs, and at the bottom, add a “Read More” link that links to the whole thing.
