The Laravel Live Mumbai experience — Programming with Laravel, networking with tech artisans
At Cactus Tech, Laravel is one of the most extensively used PHP frameworks because of multiple reasons –its quick, functional, and flexible core, clean and simple routing, easy integration, and so much more. However, one of the biggest benefits of this platform is the energetic and forward-thinking community that is an active support to each programmer –novice or expert.
What’s the hype about?
So, on the 18th of January 2020, I finally made up a resolution to experience for myself, the monthly Laravel Mumbai meetup. The session was presided over by Sarthak Shrivastava –founder of Bitfumes and a self-proclaimed Laravel enthusiast. With an impactful four-hour long session, the speaker covered topics of common interest like
-SPATIE (Laravel backup)
-MultiAuth package (Different roles easily managed by SuperAdmin)
What I learnt at my first meetup
Personally, I found the session very insightful as coincidently, my current project will follow a similar functionality, where different roles or users are managed by SuperAdmin, just like the CRM where there’s no need to write code from scratch (all you have to do is install a few Laravel packages). Another great takeaway was the easy backup that Laravel offers, where instead of the painstaking manual backup, the same happens automatically from time to time.
A roaring success, not only did all participants listen intently to the orator, but also eagerly discussed issues that have been of recurring importance to programmers all over. The attendees started a discourse on cybercrime and the resulting attacks on applications. For a more structured debate, each participant listed a single topic they wished to shed light on and clarified their doubts regarding the same. From SQL injection, CSRF, XSS, CORS, DDOS, SSH, Plain Text Password to Mass Assignment, a community problem-solving approach helped us cover a lot of topics in just as much as four hours.
Here’s to many more!
Laravel has been deemed as one of the most popular frameworks to work on. Its elegance, simplicity, open-source, free framework, extensions, and the fact that it allows you to experiment and explore new depths of creativity, has been instrumental in building Laravel communities all around the world.
Needless to say, the Laravel Mumbai community has been growing significantly –with more than 45 participants in just a span of three months –thanks to the tremendous support and generous contribution from each and every participant. Here’s to those who not only build and share valuable content on best programming practices, but also spread an infectious energy to learn and give back to a global society of developers.
A new chapter unfolds, and you’re invited to it!
For the next meetup, we have something special planned out, which will happen at a new location altogether –Cactus Communications in Andheri East, and will be hosted by not just one, but two expert orators. Are you ready for an ultra-cool experience with the best of tech artisans?
