By now, the excitement of creating your own store might be reaching a plateau, and you’re running solely on determination. The real work is just about to begin. It may be dawning on you that the time investment of taking good product images, writing amazing product descriptions, and going through a lengthy product uploading process is a challenge. It could easily be a roadblock that zaps your motivation just thinking about. But we beg to differ. Product uploading doesn’t have to be difficult. On Cafe24, we’ve made it easier for you to add products through the Smart Mode feature.
What is Smart Mode and Advanced Mode?
Not all e-commerce businesses are created the same. Some stores, due to their size, business model, industry, or management, need more or less facility over ecommerce tools in their control. At Cafe24, we recognize small, medium, and large businesses have different needs. The option of using the Smart Mode and Advanced Mode is a way to address the unique needs of all the businesses on the platform.

For first time online sellers and small businesses, we recommend the Smart Mode setting for a smoother start to your business journey. When adding products through this feature, only the most essential product description fields are immediately exposed, such as your product’s basic information and status, to streamline the adding process to a few clicks. The Advanced Mode, on the other hand, are for businesses that are more familiar with ecommerce tools or require more agency over their product management. In a nutshell, Smart Mode is made for users first, while Advanced Mode focuses on the business. Both modes are easily accessible and can be enabled or disabled in the upper left-hand corner of your Cafe24 admin dashboard.
Everything you need to start smart
In the Add product section of the Products navigation bar, you’ll be able to view the different product upload settings in Smart Mode. This section also gives you the option to alter sales information, shipping settings, customs clearance information, and production information in an expandable view. Additionally, you can add and create your own badges and icons on product images to signify new products, hot deals, and promo items to customers. Under the product description details, you can choose to enter the product text manually or use Edibot, a design tool that allows you to create product templates or use an existing template, to show off all your products according to your set brand design. In the store policies section, you can detail your return/exchange, shipping, and payment policies from an existing template or create your own. You can also elevate your search engine rankings by enabling the Search Engine Optimization Setting (SEO) setting and adding a browser title, meta tags, image text, and keywords for your products.

How to add products through Smart Mode
- Log-in to your Cafe24 account. Enable Smart Mode in the upper right corner of the interface and go to Products> Add product.
2. Fill out all the details of your product in the fields provided.
💡 TIP: When writing product descriptions, remember that you’re writing in your customer’s best interest. Do not write to show off your products. Write with their benefit in mind. Write how your products alleviate their problems, write to address their health needs, write descriptions that will complement their chosen lifestyle. 3. In the product details portion, you can add the details manually or click Create with Edibot to create or pick a template.
4. Add your product image. The recommended image size is 500px*500px.
💡 TIP: Add clean and quality product photos that highlight your product’s features. Hire a professional photographer if you can, but any camera and a basic lighting set-up will do. If your business is product-centric, then taking photos using a white background is ideal. If your business leans more on lifestyle, then put your products in surroundings that compliment your customers’ lifestyle.
5. Add additional details such as sales information, shipping settings, and SEO by expanding the settings. Finally, click on Preview to view your store and click Add product when you’re ready to upload your product.
