Amazon Surpasses Q3 Revenue Goals, Reveals Ambitious 2025 Plans
Amazon Exceeds Q3 Revenue Expectations, Outlines 2025 Strategy
Amazon reported a record net sales increase of 11%, reaching $158.9 billion in Q3, up from $143.1 billion in the same quarter last year. This growth was largely driven by the success of its AWS cloud computing division and fall sales events.
During the earnings call, CEO Andy Jassy shared insights into Amazon’s strategy for 2025, focusing on:
- AI Monetization: Jassy emphasized the importance of integrating AI into existing products and services. Amazon’s AI division is now a multibillion-dollar revenue generator for AWS, boasting triple-digit growth year over year.
- Amazon Pharmacy: The company plans to expand its prescription fulfillment service to 20 additional cities, aiming to improve customer convenience compared to traditional pharmacies.
- Alexa Devices: Jassy hinted at the upcoming generation of Alexa devices, which will be capable of processing orders and payments through voice interactions.
Jassy noted that Amazon has expanded its AI offerings through its Bedrock service, adding new models and significantly increasing the number of machine learning features released. He mentioned that the AI business is growing more than three times faster than AWS did during its early stages.
In discussing Amazon Pharmacy, Jassy pointed out the inefficiencies of brick-and-mortar pharmacies, stating that customers often face long waits and limited access to medications. Amazon aims to deliver prescriptions to 95% of first-time customers within two business days and to 20% of Prime members within 24 hours.
