Just like we estimated, the lockdown has been extended in India till the 3rd of May, but we believe it could yet again be extended after looking at the current situation. We recommend you to check out — World Meters for official COVID-19 numbers all across the globe.

These rising numbers and economic slowdown would have anyone believe that all sales across the e-bike industry would drop as well. Surprisingly, among other things like indoor sports equipment, indoor games and of course, toilet paper(duh!), e-bike sales have increased globally. In fact, we are seeing a higher growth rate right now than a few months ago!

The global e-bike market was valued at over $18 billion in 2019 and has been growing at a CAGR of 5–7%. At this pace, it is expected to grow to over $25 billion by 2025. And despite the economic slowdown, we predict that these numbers are not going to dip much either. Over the last few months, there’s been significant increase in EV startups and the capital they have been raising.

VC & PE Investments in EV industry on a high

This image pretty much sums up all the advancements happening around the world in the EV industry, more so in the e-bike industry. Light electric vehicles(LEVs) including e-scooters and e-bikes are showing clear signs of becoming the future of last mile mobility.

It’s inevitable that there will be a major paradigm shift in urban commuting, and LEVs are going to be at the forefront of this shift.

Mobility is a challenge that goes far beyond the borders of a single nation. The race to come up with unique solutions that best respond to current and future mobility challenges has started. We believe — more importantly, its our responsibility as citizens of the world to make sure the solutions created will be sustainable and aimed towards a better future.

Despite the negative consequences of this pandemic, there have been some silver linings — pollution levels have dropped and the air has become immensely clean. After we overcome these strange times, the world is going to be very different and we hope to see more people adopt cleaner modes of transport.
