Is a Long Gooseneck Webcam Mount Right for your Setup?
The Most Popular Webcam Mount
If you have tried a bunch of webcams in your life, you have probably noticed how the default mounting option tends to suck. If you want to save yourself the annoyance of a wobbly webcam barely hanging on top of your screen — look into dedicated webcam mounts.
There are three main categories of webcam mounts:
- Gooseneck Webcam Mounts
- Webcam Tripods
- Clip-on Webcam Mounts
Here’s a review of the most popular gooseneck webcam mount — the Pipishell 25". As a note, I don’t get any kick-backs from this!

Hands-down the most popular gooseneck-type webcam mount on the market.
Clamping mechanism: similar to the Smatree webcam mount, this one also uses a standard clamp with a relatively small aperture.
Adjustability: the gooseneck is very long on this one so you get a lot more flexibility in terms of placement options; unfortunately the extra flexibility comes with a price: it’s wobbly as hell. You can bend it so part of the beck uses your desk as support.
Webcam attachment: has a 1/4'’ screw with a pivot mechanism with a lot of forward/backward movement. Also features a quick-release mechanism for the webcam itself.
Pros: good adjustability, lots of flexibility in terms of angles you can get.
Cons: wobbly and unstable, likely sags if you have a heavier webcam, challenging to adjust the neck without making the clamp lose grip.

In Summary
Choose a long gooseneck mount if your desk is not too thick and you are looking for maximum adjustability. The main tradeoff to consider is wobbliness — the longer the gooseneck, the shakier the mount.
