Call for Code: Honoring Everyday Heroes Challenge

Reciprocity is the best way to give thanks. COVID-19 has strained lives around the world, particularly those who have provided necessary services to maintain some semblance of normalcy for many communities through the pandemic. From teachers and doctors, to childcare and frontline healthcare workers, it’s clear that these individuals have been critical to our everyday lives.
As we begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel as it relates to navigating out of the pandemic, now more than ever we must express our appreciation to those who have been there for us when we needed them most — and the best way to do that is through action. Technology has the power to solve the world’s biggest problems, and the time is now to use it for our everyday heroes.
Today, November 2, 2021, the Call for Code: Honoring Everyday Heroes Challenge kicks off. The challenge gives innovators from around the world the opportunity to build skills and gain experience with industry-leading open hybrid cloud technologies and Weather Company data while leveraging Samsung hardware devices to create solutions for individuals who we realized during the pandemic play a crucial role in all our lives, but so often are hidden behind the scenes.

For this challenge, it is required that you use a Samsung tablet and/or ruggedized smartphone, and/or wearable device along with IBM Cloud services. All participants have access to Toolkits from Samsung, Weather Company data, and Edge analytics.
Submissions are evaluated by a judging panel from IBM and Samsung, and the winning team will receive:
- $15k USD (divided equally among the team)
- Galaxy Z Fold3 (one for each team member)
- Deployment support from IBM & Samsung Electronics to bring the solution to life
