March 8, 2021 marks International Women’s Day, a celebration that recognizes the undeniable importance women have in society and the work that’s yet to be done in reaching gender equality. Call for Code empowers prospective participants of all races, genders, and learning levels to take part in the largest tech for good initiative of its kind, and it’s critical that we shine a light on the significance that women hold in bringing world changing ideas to life. Call for Code is indicative of this, with 60% of the global finalist teams including women, and the winning team of the 2020 Global Challenge being predominately comprised of females. In an industry where current trends express that women will only hold one in five computing jobs by 2025 (UN Women), having a program like Call for Code that rightfully cuts across the grain to provide women with the tools to succeed has inspired many participants to answer the call.

In partnership with the Female Quotient (FQ), Black Girls Code, Kode with Klossy, and so many more women-led organizations, Call for Code is committed to breaking down barriers to entry for women in the tech industry, while remaining steadfast in serving them with opportunities to build their skills and enhance their technical acumen for professional growth opportunities.

It’s imperative to bring awareness to what can be accomplished when women have equal opportunity. Over the week, the FQ team will be rolling out various Equality Lounges® & Conversations, and showcasing how Call for Code is breaking down barriers to aid in the advancement of women in technology in The Modern Guide to Equality.
