Welcome to the Calling the Leadership Circle blog
In these hectic times, as we rush from crisis to crisis and challenge to challenge, we can all gain value by reflecting on our experiences, dissecting what we are learning, and engaging in discussions to examine what people are and are not talking about — provocative and challenging issues that face leaders today.
Welcome to the Calling the Leadership Circle blog. This blog is not intended to be a primer for leadership. It is not a list of skills. Convened in the tradition of Christina Baldwin’s PeerSpirit circling concepts, our hope is that this blog will stimulate leadership reflection and learning; foster a receptive attitude; and generate authentic conversations about a variety of topics pertinent to nurses in leadership roles.
The blog is written based on our unique experiences in national healthcare leadership roles. Pam Thompson MS, RN, FAAN is the CEO Emeritus of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership, formerly AONE. During the same time, 2000–2016, she was the Senior VP of Nursing for the American Hospital Association. After retiring in 2017, she now serves as a healthcare consultant and volunteer board member and trustee for several healthcare entities. Marla Weston PhD, RN, FAAN is the past CEO of the American Nurses Association Enterprise which included the American Nurses Association, American Nurses Credentialing Center and American Nurses Foundation, serving from 2009 to 2018. From these perspectives, we will tee up topics, provide our opinions, and invite you to share yours.
We invite anyone who sees themselves as a leader to join us. This includes nurses in formal or informal leadership roles. Our audience is not limited to nurses, but we will speak from our nursing professional perspectives experience and ethos.
Please join the Calling the Leadership Circle to explore how our common reflection on our past experiences and new learning.
