An up-close snap of the tentacles of Alexis Diaz’s beautifully detailed hybrid Elephant Octopus painted in black and white on a pale turquoise brick wall. One of the tentacles has snapped to reveal the sinew inside.

Breathe deep, breathe in.

Let the soul flow in to scripture which unravels the mind

Combine line by line the inner most thoughts sought.

Let each syl la ble hang in the air

Unaware of the impact it might have

Or not have

Once it enters the canal

Of another ear

Translated pure and clear.

One never knows what the outcome of this may be

And can never be certain that what was intended was not then mind-bended.

To another level of understanding, notwithstanding.

These words make a mark

Burn a small scar

And are forever not lost

But instead create rapport

Entwining two into one

The meaning evolves on.

Breathe out, exhale.
