At Calls9, we have a whole heap of experience working with both global brands and start-up companies. In fact, we’ve been on our very own start-up journey — launching Calls9 six years ago with zero users. Now, our platform delivers digital experiences to over 260,000 users.
Our journey all started with an idea. One that we were passionate about and believed in, and one that solved the problem of clunky technology in businesses. Our early days as a digital consultancy allowed us to interact with businesses to help them understand their core needs and how these could be met with better technology — turning Call9 into the business it is today.
Collaboration meets innovation
Along the way, we’ve met some great people who have supported us on our journey and become firm friends. This includes: George Biddle (Founder and CEO of Signin), Dr David Pearce (Co-Founder of ViCardio), William Schaffer (Investor Relations Manager and Entrepreneur Coach at NorthInvest) and Alex Durrant (Co-Founder and CEO of jigtalk) — to name a few!
They too have turned their ideas into successful businesses (or are in the process of doing so), along with William at NorthInvest, a not-for-profit company connecting ventures to mentors and investors in the North of the UK.
We’ve learnt a lot from them and so to did the attendees at our first Start-Up Bootcamp during Leeds Digital Festival. From developing your personal brand to validating your idea, convincing investors to giving the consumer what they want, our panel shared their experiences of building a successful product/service, along with some inspiring and thought-provoking pieces of advice.
Join the Northern tech revolution
Following our hugely successful Start-up Bootcamp, we are running a follow-up as part of an ongoing series to help the innovators of Leeds and the surrounding areas. Whether you are a student, SME or corporate enterprise — our panel of experts will help you understand how to go from having a great idea to launching it.
The same topics will be covered as last time but with different speakers. So, even if you attended first time around, chances are you will learn something new. For those who were unable to join us, this event is the perfect chance to launch your tech start-up journey. Emphasis will also be placed on encouraging more women to start tech starts-ups — something which we are keen to support.
Among the panel of speakers will be Seb Francis, Co-Founder of Titus Learning and a Virgin Start-Up Ambassador. Founded in 2013 by Seb and Mike Bennet, Titus Learning provide tailored Moodle platforms — connecting teachers, students and parents — to a range of clients in 15 countries. More speakers will be announced over the coming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled!
