Innovation and the changing workplace

To innovate — the concept of coming up with a new way of doing things. Well, that’s the simplest way of looking at it. However, innovation is so much more than merely creating a new product or service offering.

Innovation is closer than you think

Innovation starts in the workplace. It’s all about establishing an efficient, productive and profitable company, with empowered and engaged employees to boot. Aka enterprise innovation. The idea is to create a high-performing organisation, which is also a great place to work.

Key to this, is embracing and promoting a supportive culture of free-thinking and creativity, where new ideas can be cultivated. Employees should be encouraged to come up with new ideas, after all, they’re the ones in the thick of it. They’re the ones who experience first-hand what works, what doesn’t and what needs improving within your business.

Although it might not always feel like the natural thing to do, your employees should not be afraid to fail. Failure is a key step in the innovation process. Without failing, you don’t know where to improve. Failure is not something to be ashamed of; it should be actively courage! It’s a sign that ideas are being formulated. So what if they don’t always work? Take a risk and experiment!

Moving forward with digital innovation

Naturally, digital technology plays an important role within workplace innovation.
