What’s summer without a networking event in the great outdoors?

The heatwave may have disappeared (for now) and despite the recent downpours, the sun made a welcome appearance for our Calls9 Summer Networking event on the stunning rooftop terrace of Headrow House.

Nestled among the rooftops of Leeds with impressive views over Victoria Quarter, Kirkgate Market and Victoria Gate, start-ups, SMEs and enterprises came together for an evening of collaboration and co-creation.

Learn from the best

We were lucky enough to run our Summer Networking event in association with global law firm Squire Patton Boggs. They share our perspective and innovative thinking when it comes to establishing ways of connecting Yorkshire start-ups and SMEs with larger companies from across the region.

Both Calls9 and Squire Patton Boggs feel there is a lot to be learnt from these different types of business set-ups. And we don’t just mean smaller businesses learning from bigger ones. Large corporates and enterprises also have a lot to learn from less-established businesses too.

This sentiment was echoed by Calls9’s Adam Roney who welcomed the 100 business professionals in attendance and noted the incredibly diverse range of people in the room — all from various backgrounds and industries — making way for valuable networking opportunities.

A simple approach to networking

Rather than trying to be too clever about the event, we simply wanted to put a mix of people in a room (or in this case on a roof terrace) with drinks, food and good company with the aim of inspiring co-creation and the sharing of ideas.

Our plan worked, and following on from Adam’s welcome, the rest of the evening was a case of letting people build their own relationships and network with faces — both old and new. No forced introductions or sales pitches. Just simple down-to-earth networking.

Save the date

We, along with Squire Patton Boggs, were so pleased with our Summer Networking event, that we’ve already started planning one for Autumn!

More details will be released over the coming weeks but what we can tell you is that our host venue will be The Ambler Club at St. Paul’s House in Leeds and the date is Thursday 15th November, so save the date.

The Ambler Club is a great space for creative thinking and if you haven’t had the pleasure of visiting yet, here’s your opportunity.

As was the case with our Summer Networking, we anticipate places will fill up quickly for our Autumn event, so we recommend registering your place as soon as possible.

Head to our dedicated events page for full details of all our scheduled events. While you’re there, why not book yourself on and discover how technology can benefit your business?
