We like to feature different members of the Calyx crew as a running series introducing you to our team. This month, we’ve chatted with Will Tseng, a Sensor Engineer in our Taipei office, about his experience at Calyx. He first heard about the team from a recruitment website, and the more he learned about our phage sensors, the more excited he became about joining us!

What made you want to join the team?

I have been engaged in the development of luminescent materials for several years. The common application of these luminescent materials is lighting and display. However, Calyx gas sensors use LED and light sensors to detect change from phage chip to measure gas concentration. I had never seen technology like this before, and it has greatly attracted my interest.

Why are you passionate about the Calyx mission?

At present, there are some problems in the gas sensors on the market that need to be improved, but it has been a long time since any new technologies have been commercialized. The phage-based gas sensors created by Calyx are precisely that, a new commercial sensing solution on the market. Because of this, I am full of enthusiasm for Calyx and confidence in our team!

What problem do you want to solve with Calyx technology?

I want to help provide a more accurate and reliable sensor for the market.

What is the best part about the Taipei office?

The Taipei office gathers experts with extensive experience in various fields. Collaborating with the team, gives me valuable ideas and suggestions that effectively push projects forward. I am glad to work with them.
