Account Creation Tutorial
This tutorial aims to guide people who want to be part of the community to create their accounts using the Cambiatus platform.
During this reading, you will find information on how to register in the community (whether by invitation or not) and how to register when the community activates the KYC (Know Your Customer) policy (we will also explain what this is). You will learn how to exchange access between communities if you are member of more than one community, and how you can invite more people to contribute to the growth and enable currency circulation within the community.
First of all, it’s important to note that we currently only support Costa Rica communities to activate the KYC policy. And each community has the autonomy to define whether the KYC policy will be activated or not, as well as whether new members can join the community through invitation, whether the invitation will have a reward or not, or if access is ope for everyone who wants to participate.
Let’s start by talking about accessing and registering new members in the community.
Access and registration by invitation
First, it is essential to know that the invitation is nothing more than an access link.
We will take the example of the Muda community that has access only by invitation. To be part of the community, you should simply request the access link to someone who is already part of the community. You can also ask through the community’s social networks by sending a message or commenting on a post.
After receiving the invitation, access the link sent to you and click on “Yes, participate”.
Account creation will take place in two steps:
- The first step is to enter your basic information:
1 — Enter your full name;
1.2 — Create a username with exactly 12 characters, with only letters from A to Z and numbers from 1 to 5;
1.3 — Enter your e-mail.
- The second step is to save the 12 words that the platform generates. You will have the option to “copy” and “download”.
When downloading, check in the download area of your mobile phone or desktop to make sure the PDF file (image 3) of the 12 words has been saved in it.
IMPORTANT🚨: This 12-word string will be your access key. It is unique, and there is no way to get it back.
If you loose the 12 words, you will not be able to enter your account again and will have to create an account from scratch, even losing your balance. So, save your passkey in a safe place!
2.1. After copying or downloading the 12 words, select the two checkboxes (checkbox), and the “Create my account” button will be activated. Click on it, and you’re done. Your account has been created, and you will be redirected to the login screen.
- Enter the 12 words you saved in the previous step;
- Create a 6-digit PIN, being numbers only. You will need this PIN to validate all transactions and save edits to your profile or community settings area (restricted to administrators only).
The PIN is not a password; you can change it at every login.
3. After entering the PIN, you will be taken to the community home screen.
Access and registration without invitation
To register in a community that doesn’t need an invitation is very simple!
Just enter the community URL, click “Join the community”, and repeat the two account creation steps mentioned above: basic information + copy and download of the 12 words.
As you can see, the difference is only in the type of access, where one is by invitation, and the other access is free and direct, by typing the URL. The registration steps are the same.
Suppose you enter the community URL with some error. In that case, you will be taken to a welcome page to select the community you want.
Sign up when KYC is activated by the community
KYC is a policy of “Know Your Customer’’. It is responsible for preventing crimes such as identity fraud and money laundering. Do you know how? It allows the organization to see the customer’s identity, understand the nature of activities, detect suspicious or potentially fraudulent patterns, and stop fraud before it happens.
Remember that the activation of this policy is a choice of the people who manage the community, Currently, we only support communities in Costa Rica, as is the case with the Verdes community.
This activation will impact directly and only on the type of registration. Still, for a person to join the community, they will need the invitation (access link) or type the URL correctly. After that, the registration will take place as follows:
- Choose by type of record: the natural person or legal entity.
- Individual registration: inform the document type and its number, full name, e-mail and telephone. Create a username with exactly 12 characters, with only letters from A to Z and numbers from 1 to 5.
- Legal entity registration: inform the type of company, whether it is a corporation or MIPYME, and the number that represents it. Inform the company name, email, telephone and create a username with exactly 12 characters, with only letters from A to Z and numbers from 1 to 5. You will also need to inform the State, the street, the number, and the company’s zip code.
After completing the first step of registering information, the second step follows the same steps as the previous registrations, with the copy and download of the 12 words, proceeding to the login screen.
Enter the 12 words you saved in the account creation step on the login screen, create a 6-digit PIN (numbers only) and proceed to the community home screen.
Important note: Note that the access key (12 words) and the PIN are present in all registration scenarios, both in invitation access and open access, as well as in registration with the active KYC policy.
Sending your link (access invitation)
The people who manage the community and decide whether new members can join the community by invitation or not also choose whether the invitation to new members will have a reward for whoever invites and who receives the invitation. In other words, each community decides whether the invitation will be rewarded or not.
To invite, go to the community panel (home screen) and click on “Invite your friends”. A modal will open, and you will be able to copy your link to send to all your friends.
The invite link is a beautiful way to activate community growth, encourage the circulation of coins, and invite a loved one to be part of this collaborative universe built on love, exchange, and joy. Invite and sow this idea so that this universe becomes more and more beautiful!🌱🥰
Switching between communities
With the communities selector, you will be able to move between the communities you are member of.
Each community is unique and independent, has its own goals and its own currency. You can be part of a community or several, That is, you can use one or several currencies. Remember that coins from different communities are not interchangeable.
The best part of this functionality is that when you switch between communities, you stay in the same section, only in another community.
Ex: The user is on the Cambiatus community home screen and would like to access the Muda community home screen. To do this, use the community selector, select the Muda community, and it will be redirected to the initial screen of this community.
