We often talk about improving productivity. I write about productivity every day, and here you are, reading it. But it’s meaningless if you don’t measure it.

To quote Peter Drucker, “what’s measured improves.” Metrics allow you to determine if you’re improving from one week to the next and if you’re meeting your goals. I’m going to show you a simple but powerful way to measure your productivity.

Why You Need to Measure Your Productivity

Assessing your individual productivity is essential to staying accountable and on the path reach your goals. To gauge your productivity, you must use metrics to measure your outputs. Metrics are a quantitative method to reinforce that you’re on the right track or alert you that you need to change your approach. Otherwise, you’re just guessing if you’ve improved or not.
