2023 VCSIA Undergraduate Student Award Winner-Sanah Kashyap
Sanah has a diverse advisory portfolio, having served in a range of roles spanning from diversity, equity, and inclusion-related matters for organisational development to strategic sustainability campaigning, and civic engagement. Her work has spanned grassroots, national, and international platforms, and communities.
Currently, Sanah serves as the Co-Chair of the Sustainable Recruitment Alliance’s Student Advisory Board, where she collaborates with committee members from across the United Kingdom to address sustainability across industries, using platforms such as roundtables, podcasts, and resource development. Working alongside the Alliance’s signatories, which currently number 84 organisations, the organisation focuses on research and exploring sustainable practices. Within this sector, prior to this role, Sanah also previously served on Global Action Plan’s Youth Panel, an organisation specialising in sustainable behaviour change. As an Advisor, she worked to critically evaluate campaign proposals and provide ideas for campaign strategy, such as for the Cycle 2021 Campaign.
As Chair of the #iWill Movement’s Evidence and Insights Collective, which consists of 27 organisational and individual representatives, Sanah has worked within a wider team to address organisational and individual approaches to social action, including the challenges and opportunities within this sector. As The Cambridge Footlights’ Treasurer, she has worked on initiatives to increase awareness about the different opportunities that students can get involved with whilst studying at Cambridge, such as through arranging workshops for students interested in theatre and comedy, as well as launching events to engage with alumni. In doing so, she has sought to create a vibrant community, nurturing creativity, and encouraging involvement.
Previously, Sanah has also organised workshops and led initiatives on topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, such as while a Member of Youth Parliament. Further work includes Sanah’s work on the parliamentary Youth Select Committee, where she co-published a report of recommendations to the United Kingdom’s government, on addressing the topic of Work Experience.
