PRESS RELEASE

CAMDEN INSPIRE COMPLETES ITS TWO-DAY OFFERING

The free festival has partnered up with Cafe KOKO and Camden’s Roundhouse for the music offering while life drawing, poetry and community based workshops fill the day time activities.

Camden Inspire is fast becoming a yearly community hub where people from afar can join Camden in a celebration of all things creative. Cafe KOKO (KOKO’s new day-to-night cafe) and The Roundhouse will curate the mainstage in its music offering on both days drawing up emerging talent to entertain the crowds. Throughout the free event there will be the opportunity to join paid workshops run by local creatives. Workshops on offer fall in the remit of a natural dying masterclass, yoga, life drawing, pupperty and upcycling plus more. Around the 20,000 sqft site there’ll be multiple street food traders, bars, interactive art plus a retail corner with homemade homeware, stationary, jewellery, clothing, and ceramics. Taking over Camden’s Buck Street from Friday 2nd — Saturday 3rd September this is free event for all. More information HERE. Images HERE.

The music will run throughout the event on the mainstage taking up one end of the pedestrianised site. Throughout the day to night cycle there’ll be DJs and live acts set to entertain the crowds. Cafe KOKO will be bringing in some special talent on the evening of Friday 2nd September in the form of Bert Brett, a fresh upbeat indie alt/pop artist combining anthemic guitars with hooky lead vocals. Nat Oaks follows up, she’ll be showcasing her innovative brand of re-imagined hip-hop with Kingcrowney finishing the bill, a London based DJ/producer with credits under the award winning group Rudimental. The Roundhouse will be taking to the stage on Saturday with three very special artists which include Teshay Mekeda, Celine Love and Chisara Agor. Green Note, Fiddler’s Elbow and Spiritual Bar are also curating the stage with artists that showcase their contribution to Camden’s live music scene.

The workshops give the local community a chance to be part of the event and provide different engagement for children and adults alike. The poetry workshop will explore how the senses can inspire future work, while kids will look towards a fabric doll-making class giving them the chance to create their very own stuffed doll. All of the workshops available offer something unique to Camden Inspire and hope to help bring the community further together.

The largest interactive part of the whole event will be headed up Camden Open Air Gallery, art and play will be the theme and allow creatives of all skill types to take part in graffiti and street art. The immersive street art gallery will line the walls of the event and provide some homebrewed Camden vibrancy to the event.

Camden Inspire is a true Camden Town street festival which celebrates the culture and identity that makes Camden Town shine. By inviting local businesses to trade, try out new business models, host workshops and guide the shape of the festival they are putting Camden Town enterprise on a platform.

As the festival continues to grow in status, so do the opportunities for those that participate. Camden Inspire aims to help those within its borough to express and showcase skills they may not have the opportunity to.
