The last two years have been one hell of a ride and this announcement is no different. We’re happy to announce that Lyft has acquired Camoji!

Let’s back up a couple of years. Leaving Square in the summer of 2013 was one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever made. We loved the possibility, the product and the people, yet Austin and I left with the goal of trying our hand at creating a company of our own. One that we could put our own stamp of happiness and influence on. We added a co-founder, Jisi, and an amazing group of investors (Battery, CrunchFund, Freestyle, Greylock, Kleiner Perkins, SV Angel and more) to help us create something beautiful and useful in the world.

We spent the next two years creating, launching, and iterating on consumer social apps that focused on delivering delight to our family and friends. Launching social apps is absurdly fun, but also can be tricky. Understanding what to spend your time on (core experience, marketing, growth hacking, distribution, etc) depending on what phase you are in (mocks, prototype, pre/post product market fit, etc) has been written about numerous times but can be difficult to internalize without experiencing it yourself. Like the Matrix, these things can’t be told, they must be felt. We are excited to bring what we’ve felt to Lyft.

We’ve been Lyft users for years and as we got to know the team and the mission, our excitement only grew. Lyft is changing the way the world moves and prioritizing human connection just as much as tech innovation. We believe in that social personal transit future and are delighted to help make it a reality.

I can’t wait to share more learnings from last few years and our future at Lyft with everyone. Expect more posts soon.

Thank you to our users, friends, investors, advisors and all of our supporters. We will continue to entertain.
