Bravo, Brava!

Last night marked the second IHC theatre show of the summer — Beauty & the Beast!

After a week of small set backs, the cast and crew stepped UP! Finding time whenever possible to rehearse between all the special events, trips & competitions!

The mics were wired and taped, the final dress rehearsal completed and it was time to go on with the show!

The crowds filtered into the Playhouse, the stage lights came on, the curtains were opened and the opening music played!

After a little mic tweaking we were off!

The Beauty and the Beast is perhaps one of the most famous fairytales ever written,

The adapted play follows an arrogant prince who is cursed to live as a terrifying beast until he finds true love. Strangely, his chance comes when he captures an unwary clockmaker, whose place is then taken by his bold and beautiful daughter Belle. Helped by the Beast’s similarly enchanted servants, including a clock, a teapot and a candelabra, Belle begins to see the sensitive soul behind the fearsome facade. But as time runs out, it soon becomes obvious that Belle’s cocky suitor Gaston is the real beast of the piece.

The story line was brilliant, and the campers embraced their roles through out the show with Gaston really filling his shoes with a powerful performance full of comic timing.

Belle stunned the audiences with a voice as beautiful as the character she was destined to play. Getting a reverberating ‘Ooooooohaaaaah’ as her character later emerged in the iconic golden dress she made the show her own!

The crockery crew had the crowd in stiches with Chip bringing just the right amount of sweetness for a sassy cup of tea!

The narrators drove the story line forward and the beast’s voice boomed around the playhouse!

The campers got so into the show and the stage crew were amazing at turning the sets around, changing between lights and microphones.

Make sure to enjoy the video as we eagerly await our next amazing IHC musical!
