Let’s see what’s going on at our IHC Tennis Academy!

“Good, Good, Good”

“Remember that split step”

“Finish with that racquet over your shoulder”

“Drop the wrists more”

Our IHCTA coaches are back in full swing and the campers are coming in waves!

One-to-one private lessons are well underway and campers are courts are filled with kids trying to take their tennis to the next level.

We caught up with Nico tennis to find out more what’s going on at IHCTA.

Nico, how has the first week of camp been going?

Incredible! It’s so good to be back in the swing of things. We’ve had so many campers come to lessons, pick up a racquet and get involved.

What do you think is the most important reason for kids to learn tennis?

At the IHCTA we believe that tennis will help kids discover core strengths and passions that will guide you through life. We love to see kids improve their game, but we also teach campers to think independently, problem solve, push themselves and learn more than just a swing. We teach them to love the process as well as the outcome.

What do campers learn in one-to-one lessons?

When campers come for our one-to-one lessons they are assessed by our coaches, campers lessons are logged and revisited before their next one so there is tailored progression. Every lesson is built around the campers needs but it typically involves technical structure of swing which is taught around dead ball and live ball drills. We also focus on movement, so when campers have a stronger swing structure we start to use a wide range of footwork exercises, alongside hitting drills.

If campers are picking up a racquet for the first time, there is a bigger emphasis on the correct grip, ball control, hand-eye co-ordination and a deeper understanding of the fundamentals.

What’s else has been happening at IHCTA?

We’ve been having tennis parties in the evening! We’ve got music blasting, disco lights flashing, kids dancing and generally just having a lot of fun for this evening activity. We’ve turned the indoor center into a fun environment for kids to play while maximizing the fun. We want to focus on allowing the kids to have fun on the courts and instill the love for the game.

Any last words?

Oh yeah! We’ve got a team of incredible coaches this year and we’re seeing both fun group lessons and great one-to-one lessons plans being executed. IHCTA is off to a great start so if any parents are interested in learning more about lessons then drop me an email nico@campihc.com.
