We’re going to start this story with the ‘why’.

It’s good to know what we do, or how we do something, but in life it’s always most important to understand why we do something.

So why do we do Project Morry? Good question. To understand why we do it we need to go back in time, not too far back though…

Project Morry is the foundation built around a man called Morry Stein. Morry was a father figure in the summer camp world, a superhero who didn’t need to wear a cape to inspire everyone he came in contact with. Morry was a kind, caring man who really understood the positive impact that summer camp had on young campers, how it changed them and how it helped them grow. His dream was to give the gift of camp to children from all social and economic backgrounds. He worked tirelessly towards this goal until he sadly passed away in a plane crash in 1994.

Those around him were determined to make his dream a reality, so his friends, family, campers, and fellow camps rallied together to found Project Morry in 1995.

Since then it’s grown and today has more awareness than every before.

Thanks to the camp communities, wonderful donors and collective efforts of young people, Project Morry is now a 9 year program able to provide life changing opportunities to hundreds of campers every summer.

Here at IHC we strive to continue Morry’s dream year on year. There was a close relationship between Morry and IHC, a personal friend of Dave and Shelley whose stories are often re-told to our own staff and campers.

Each year our CIT’s become actively involved with Project Morry. For them, this means so much to them. Most of them have been campers here for 8 or 9 years, they understand just how lucky they are to have the gift of camp each summer.. and now they want to give back.

To give back the CIT’s are helping participate in fundraising opportunities for Project Morry that included running, swimming laps, dance marathons and other various activities that your creative campers came up with! We are so proud of their efforts!

In recognition of our camper’s achievements, we ask that you consider a donation. Your tax deductible donation will go directly to Project Morry.

We are proud to participate in Camps That Give and to support Project Morry.
