Another SING can be added to the Camp IHC records. SING! has been done and dusted for the year 2019 and what a great event it was. With the event breaking out on the 4th of July, teams Marvel, The 80’s, and Indiana Jones all gathered their teams for the beginning of the SING practices. Go Teams!
All teams worked incredibly hard with their CITS to make sure their team was up to standards with the performances. From what we saw from the practices, we were VERY impressed! We couldn’t wait to see what the night would hold.
The SING night came upon us very quickly and as soon as we knew it, the teams were walking into the Arena to start their spectacular shows. As the teams walked in, they were stunned by the amazing artwork which covered the Arena walls, created by the CITS, art directors, and counselors. Indiana Jones created a jungle scene with pieces of leaves and grass to go that extra mile while Marvel created the ultimate Avengers scenery. Every Avenger was their to witness the shows. CITS… ASSEMBLE! The 80’s art wall was full of color and spirit with a 3D Arcade game making an appearance. We just couldn’t help singing this song while admiring the artwork. “I’ve got love for you if you were born in the 80s, the 80's” What a time to be alive.
It was time for the event to start. As the campers filled the Arena, the floor filled with colors from each team. Marvel had asked their campers to dress in red, green, and blue to represent the Avengers while the 80’s brought a neon pop to the arena with campers wearing funky pink and yellow shirts and glasses. Indiana Jones. Nowhere to be seen. All campers were asked to wear camouflage or Khaki green to blend in with the artwork. We still can’t see them…
To begin, each team stood up to perform their own skits. Each came up with their own creative idea surrounding their theme and Camp IHC. Some focused on the leadership, while others took a look into the program team. Mark OPT and Corsen Program both took the worse hit in the Skits. With Mark living his best life on third hill with the bears and Corsen who spends all his life obsessing with SING! Alan is also still obsessed with his cookout beans.
It was finally time to start singing their SING covers. Each team sang beautifully and passionately for the judges. Each song was different to the other and all had their own special meanings, especially with the alma maters. Don’t mind us, we’re just wiping the tears away. 😭
After each team had performed, the judges got together to decide the final verdict… The winner of SING 2019. As Lauren aka Taylor Swift stood up to announce the winner, the room went quiet as a mouse. ‘And the winner of SING 2019 is…”
