Activities
The humming vibration of campers flying through the zip tour. The sharp pitch of whistles blowing across the fields and courts. Water splashing and flying everywhere as campers perfect their cannonball form. If you listen closely, you can even hear tennis balls bouncing back and forth all the way across camp!
The Dining Hall
“Everybody dance now!” Mealtimes are one of the most high energy parts of the day. From table banging to sponging games, there’s never a dull moment in the dining hall; that is, aside from silent meals during Olympics. At the end of each breakfast and dinner, we breakout into a mini dance party to keep the spirit going. If you’re lucky, they may even play a second song! Some popular choices are “High School Musical,” “Shut Up and Dance,” and “Party in The U.S.A.”
All The Songs
Whether it’s the top hits blasting at the pool or Dave singing at campfire, not a moment goes by without someone breaking out into song and dance. Some flagpole favorites are “The Wobble” and “Waka Waka.” Other Camp IHC classics include “The Birthday Song,” “The Lost Tooth Song,” and “The Welcome Song.” We even sing when there’s nothing to celebrate! “Nothing has happened to us, we are not making a fuss! No lost teeth or birthdays today so let’s just say hooray. Hooray!” Many campers even like to record their own original songs at Studio IHC.
Rainy Days
As the raindrops trickle down the leaves, you can hear the birds and chipmunks scurrying to seek shelter. You can also hear campers running (carefully) and giggling down the bunk line to find somewhere dry to wait out the liquid sunshine. With this type of weather comes a rainy day schedule and extra bunk time. There is something incredibly calming about sitting on the bunk porch listening to the rain as it downpours. That is… until you realize that you forgot to clear the clothes line.
Campfire
Every Friday night, we come together as one community and sit around the campfire. As the night winds down, we all get ready to silently stare into the fire. It’s no small task to get over one thousand people to sit quietly in unison especially after singing lots of silly songs. Get all your coughs and sneezes out as this is a time to reflect and listen to the soft crackle of the fire.
The Bunk Line
Laughing, screaming, chanting, and cheering! Camp just isn’t the same without its campers, and the bunk line is truly the place to be. On the bunk line, you’ll often find campers playing jacks, downball, or just having a conversation. Whether you’re walking to activities or playing catch during free play, the bunk line is one of the busiest parts of camp with something exciting always going on!
