Over the last year, Camp IHC committed to step out of our comfort zone and challenge ourselves to change, evolve and grow. Since that time, we have worked closely as a team to question, learn, develop and explore the vast topic of diversity. We started examining IHC and our relationship with diversity, as we wanted to fully understand if our current methods for promoting and welcoming diversity were in fact effective.

We have learned A LOT through this process of self assessment and discovery and today we are one more step forward in our journey.

Camp IHC is proud to share our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion statement.

This statement gives a foundation to our mission as a community, and establishes a barometer for true accountability if we were ever to fall short.

Our statement reads:

Welcome home.

Camp IHC welcomes and empowers everyone to live our authentic selves. We strive for a sense of community built around diversity, inclusion and kindness. We continue to grow and learn from those of a different race, cultural background, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical and mental capabilities, political and religious beliefs, economic status, and personal experiences.

One Camp. One Community. One Family.

IHC commits to the inclusion and celebration of all humankind by influencing future generations of leaders who understand that together, we can all go further.

We all show up at camp as our own unique, individual and perfectly created self. Our race, cultural background, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical and mental capabilities, political and religious beliefs, economic status, and personal experiences are all intertwined and inform who we are. Our decision to depict diversity as a fingerprint serves as a constant reminder that no two IHC community members are the same, but that each should be equally valued.

We are committed to our mission of preserving Camp IHC as a space where people from all over the world can gather and connect. Camp IHC will continue to actively pursue a more diverse, equal and inclusive community for generations to come.
