Following up from our amazing Upper Lake and Hill Camp production of Matilda, its time for our lower lake theatre production! And this year, our creative arts team remained on theme of popular productions in 2023, by pulling off an incredible IHC rendition of ‘The Little Mermaid’.

On the morning of the big day for “The Little Mermaid” musical, the whole cast gathered at the dance studio for one last practice. You could feel the excitement building as showtime got closer. There were definitely some nerves, but the team supported and encouraged each other, hyping each other up for an incredible performance and getting ready to dazzle the audience with their incredible talent.
After dinner, our Lake Camp divisions were called up to the dance studio to take their seats, ready for the magic of “The Little Mermaid” to begin. The outside theater fell silent as the cast began to perform.
It was pure magic.
As the show unfolded, it just got better and better. The cast nailed their lines, the dance moves didn’t miss a beat, and their voices filled the audience with wonder, many of our campers and counselors were shocked at how powerful the kids voices were, it was amazing.
From Ariel’s sweet serenade of “Part of Your World” to Ursulas powerful ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’ the audience was transported to a magical underwater world.
The whole ensemble brought the story to life in the most incredible way. Every cast member played their part, creating an experience that was unforgettable. Even some of our Lake Camp Head Counselors made surprise appearances, taking to the stage to show off their dancing skills and adding an extra splash of fun to the performance.
Behind the scenes, the production team worked tirelessly to make sure everything was perfect — the sets, the lights, the sound, the costumes, our creative and performing arts team work tirelessly, and their talent and hard work is vital and greatly appreciated to making the whole production look like a fairytale come true.
As the final curtain call approached, the theater erupted with applause. The cast and crew took a well-deserved bow, soaking up the love and cheers from the crowd. It was the perfect ending to an absolutely magical performance.
Huge congratulations to everyone involved in bringing “The Little Mermaid” to life! It was a summer of theater filled with incredible talent and passion that touched the hearts of every single person in the audience.
And remember, just like Ariel, don’t change yourself to please others, embrace your true self and follow your own dreams.
