It’s time for the Upper Lake and Hill Camp Theatre Production, and this year they are taking on the challenge of performing the classic novel, movie and now musical… Matilda!!
Matilda is a childhood classic, and with the release of the new musical movie, the timing for the IHC production was perfect.
Tonight for Saturday’s evening activity, Lake Camp and Hill Camp gathered together at the Dance Studio to support their peers.
The kids, along with our Theatre staff have been working tirelessly to put this show together in the last week, and their hard work really paid off.
Saturday was a big day for the cast of Matilda the Musical, they gathered at the Dance Studio for one last day of run-throughs. And as showtime grew closer, the excitement began to build. Some of the actors were a bit nervous, but the theater specialists and fellow performers were there to cheer them on and make sure they were ready to wow the rest of camp with their amazing talent.
Once everyone was settled in their seats, the magic of Matilda came alive. The outside theatre hushed as the speakers blared out the opening notes of the first awesome song!
As the performance went on, it just got better and better. The cast nailed their lines, their dance moves were on point, and their voices filled the dance studio with all the feels.
From Matilda’s charismatic version of “Naughty” to the empowering anthem of “Revolting Children,” our campers and staff were blown away by the sheer talent. And guess what? Some of our Upper Lake and Hill Camp Head Counselors even made surprise appearances, busting out some killer dance moves and tricks, adding a whole lot of fun to the show.
Behind the scenes, the creative arts specialists worked tirelessly to make sure everything was on point — the sets, the lights, the sound, the costumes — you name it. Their hard work paid off big time, making the whole production shine.
As the show reached its grand finale, the outside studio exploded with joy. The cast and crew took a well-deserved bow, soaking up the applause and cheers from the crowd. It was the perfect ending to an absolutely breathtaking performance.
Huge congratulations to everyone involved in bringing Matilda the Musical to life! It was an epic show filled with crazy talent and passion that touched the hearts of every single person in the audience.
And let’s not forget: just like Matilda, it’s not about winning or losing — it’s about embracing your inner strength and resilience as you dance your way through life.
