The newest — and cutest — member of Team Campuswire is just four months old, but he’s already contributed a lot to Campuswire’s culture. Meet Simba Routowicz, lead office pup.

While Simba does have a lot to say — particularly when mail is being delivered– we couldn’t quite get him to sit still for this interview. In his stead, we spoke to father Tim Routowicz about what makes the Golden Doodle bark.

Hi, Tim! How old is Simba and what breed is he?

Hi, Sanna. Simba is an F1B Golden Doodle, which means he’s largely hypoallergenic. He sheds very little, which is perfect for the office– and our apartment!

He’s four-and-a-half months old and originally comes from Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania.

Helping Tim with programming

That’s a long trip to make for such a little guy.

Sure is. He’s a good traveller, though– he commutes to the office with me on the PATH trains. It’s hard for him to get comfortable in those little plastic seats, but he’s very well-behaved.

Does being in NYC make him nervous? I imagine that all of the sounds and people must be overwhelming for him.

All of the city’s sounds are a little overwhelming– he hates ambulances and police sirens. But he’s adjusting to life in the Big Apple.

“Look, Simba. Everything the light touches is our kingdom.”

What is Simba’s favorite food?

We’re pretty strict with his diet, so we mainly feed him puppy food. But his favorite food– well, he’s not very picky. His favorite food at any given moment is whatever he finds on the ground.

And his favorite drink?

Champagne! Just kidding. Kind of. No, he only drinks water. Clean water, though, not puddle water.

Does he have a favorite treat for when he’s being extra good?

On special occasions we give him Dingo’s Twist Sticks– bacon wrapped around a bone. He loves those, and they keep him entertained for hours.

Where is his favorite place to be walked?

My girlfriend Amy & I take him to a park near our home in Hoboken. He’s a little afraid of the other dogs, but we’re trying to socialize him.

Simba has a lot of toys — I accidentally step on them sometimes– but which one is his favorite?

He’s a puppy so he loves to play, but he’s teething at the moment. Toys don’t last long once he sinks his teeth into them.

One of his favorites was a stuffed monkey our friend Julian gifted him. Unfortunately, the monkey has since been torn to shreds.

Sock Monkey pre-destruction

RIP. So, million dollar question– who is Simba’s favorite human?

I want to say that it’s me, but I’m going to have to go with my girlfriend, Amy.

Simba and his mama

Good answer. Thanks for sitting down with me, Tim– and Simba!

No problem!
