Why this Publication was created
I’ve been gathering articles about what the Canadian government is planning to do regarding the growing humanitarian crisis in Syria and surrounding countries due to over 11 million displaced and now homeless Syrians, four million of which are refugees “living” (barely existing) in exile in other nearby countries.
I’ve been tagging these articles for months now as preparations are being done to resettle 25,000 of the most vulnerable Syrian refugees throughout Canada over the coming months.
I now have over 70 such articles. There is a lot of good information contained in many of them. That got me thinking: How could I make this information available to others who might find it interesting or helpful.
So I decided to create a publication here on Medium and write articles with excerpts and links to the best of these articles.
Hopefully others will find this collection useful.
I’m part of a team of 25 people from our church who are sponsoring the settlement of a Syrian refugee family and they could arrive at any time. So I’ve been monitoring the news for any information of how the refugee screening, processing, transporting, staging, distribution, allocation, resettlement is being setup and running. I’ve also been encouraged by how so many local refugee settlement assistance agencies are collaborating and gearing up for the influx.
I am blessed to be part of a rich, multicultural, and welcoming local community in Waterloo Region of Ontario, Canada.
Now to start writing those excerpts :)
Hope you’ll give this publication a follow and be along for the ride.
Thanks!
PS: Here’s the first article with excerpts from many helpful articles…
