Today was my first day in Cannabis Journalism at the University of Denver. With the relatively new legislation on recreational marijuana in Colorado, as well as the medical cannabis that has been around for a little over a decade, there is still a great deal of “unknown” surrounding the industry.

We started the day off with a meet and greet featuring @FakeJakeBrowne one of the leading pot critics in Colorado. As a strain reviewer, he told us about an average day in the life as a pot critic, as well as educated us on regulations, how the industry operates and the corners businesses cut.

During this course, I am going to focus on the lab testing of marijuana and its importance. With lab testing, you are able to analyze the potency and safety of the plant. These two aspects are very important to the patient because you want to know what you are consuming. The testing not only provides valuable knowledge for the patients or recreational users, but ensures consistency of the product.
