SXSW Hemp Game Changers Panel with Kelly Fair 4/29/20

On April 29th, 2020 SXSW’s “Hemp Game Changers” virtual session, hosted by Vicente Sederberg LLP Partner Shawn Hauser, brought together three women who are pioneers of modern hemp: Elizabeth Hogan, co-founder/VP of GCH, which includes Willie’s Reserve in their portfolio, Annie D’Angelo Nelson, longtime cannabis activist and co-founder of Willie’s Reserve with husband Willie Nelson, and Canopy Growth’s US General Counsel Kelly Fair. The panel discussed the past, present, and future of the US hemp industry, with Kelly giving an insider perspective on the steps Canopy has already taken to end the prohibition era through science-backed education and cooperation with legislative regulators.

Kelly discussed the key legislative role Canopy has played in helping flip states from red to green on cannabis legislation, and notes there is still much more work to be done. She also shared a vision of the world to come when CGC and the cannabis industry at large will at last be able to tap the true potential of the incredibly versatile cannabis plant to transform people’s lives, from farmers to consumers.
